Aakash Mathur, Business Development Intern, Urbanclap shares his Interview Process in this brief interview
Please tell us about your Interview/Selection procedure at UrbanClap (Short listing procedure, GDs, Interviews).
The selection procedure consisted of three rounds which were Resume short listing, Group Discussion and a Personal interview. A total of 25 students were selected after the resume short listing, after the group discussion and personal interview, thirteen students got the internship offer. Interview was a follow up through your resume and some basic H.R questions were asked about the company.
What makes this company different from other firms?
Urbanclap is the fastest growing startup in the history of India and is basically a mobile platform for hiring local services. Also, the work culture is really casual and you have an active interaction with the managers and your respective team leaders and gain a lot of experience.
How did you prepare for the placement season? What advice would you give to your juniors regarding the placement season?
I didn’t do any major preparation for the internship season, since I was keen to get an internship in a the startup sector I kept following the startup news,it helped me to get a fair knowledge of how things work and I kept myself abreast with the events happening in and around delhi such as startup meets etc.All this helps in the personal interview.
What’s the role of academics in getting a good placement at N.S.I.T?
Academics do play an important role in qualifying for the company but the rest is on your performance in the test and the interview, still I would ask all the juniors to maintain a minimum of 65 percent. That would make you eligible for a majority of companies that visit the campus.
Elaborate on the type of work in this kind of role?
As a Business development intern we have to perform a quality check and do a basic profiling of all the providers of a respective category. Also, we have a weekly target that needs to be completed at any cost and our performance is viewed on the completion of the target.
Would you like to give any general advice to your juniors?
Explore as much as you can and make the best of the opportunities that you get in the college, find which field suit’s you the most by learning things for yourselves rather than going for the general advice from everyone else.
