Abhishek Patrol Ola Cabs Careers Ola Cabs Employee Review I had total three rounds of interview. All technical but mainly focused on  Java and data structures. I later came to know that one was taken by an  engineer, one by technical leader and one by senior director of  engineering

What makes this company different from other similar firms?

Ola is growth hungry in terms of expanding service cities and adding more talent pool. There is no restriction upon working on your own ideas which could in future align with their company. I find this lacking in other startups.

Elaborate on the type of work in this kind of role?

I was hired as a backend engineer which developed and maintained critical features likes OLA money, booking flow and surcharge applicability.

What growth opportunities does this company provide? Is there any global exposure?

Ola provides you with immense growth opportunities, provided you work hard for them. I don’t find any global exposure but it compensates with the in house opportunity it provides.

How’s the general work culture and interaction with senior level executives?

OLA is transitioning from a small startup to a medium sized company. Hence the work culture is becoming more and more balanced as compared to the older days when I joined. However, one still has to pull all nighters time to time.

Are there any activities/events apart from work to motivate employees?

Oh yes. For each critical feature/quarter/team achievement there are parties hosted which makes you believe in work hard, play harder.

Would you like to share some negative points which you might have experienced while working here?

My overall experience was very good here apart from the fact that I took some time to adjust here after working for a mnc like CISCO, there was a radical shift in work life balance.

Would you recommend this company to a friend? Why?

Only if you are willing to learn new things, like to take initiatives and wouldn’t mind working late.

What are your future plans? Will you be working here, looking to switch or going for higher studies?

I recently quit ola to pursue masters at University of Southern California.
