Manav Jain, Graduate Engineer Trainee, IGL shares his experience in this brief interview.

 

Please tell us about your placement procedure at IGL(Short listing procedure, GDs, Interviews)

Manav Jain IGL Job Process Graduate Engineer Trainee The procedure mainly consisted of written test which had questions from aptitude  and general knowledge. Around 40 students appeared for the test and around 10 got  shortlisted for the Tech interview. The interview was mainly based on  instrumentation core knowledge and one must be fully aware of IGL and the  domains in which they work.

 What helped you sail through the hurdles and crack one of the finest  jobs?

Firm belief in my abilities, my thorough preparation, patience (as it came very late)  and support from my family and friends helped me a lot.

 How did you prepare for the placement season? What advice would you  give to your juniors regarding the placement season?

Following are the books which I referred:

Coding- Yashwant Kanetkar Data Struct

Apti- CAT coaching

Interview + GD- Practiced while in company interviews

Advice-: Even if you are out of a company in 1st round, don’t go home. Stay there till the last. Learn from your peers what was their experience. It will help in next interview. Don’t lose self belief and have patience

 What’s the role of academics in getting a good placement at NSIT?

Percentage is more often for cut off purpose. But real depth of knowledge and clarity of concepts make you through interviews

What all internships and projects you did while in college? How did you get them?

I did internship in BHEL which I managed to get through my contacts.

Are you planning to do higher studies in near future?

Yes

Would you like to give any general advice to your juniors in NSIT?

Set a target. Don’t get confused in placements (Coding + Core ICE or Mech + non Tech) + MBA + MS. Focus on 1 thing. Build a strong resume for that
