Please tell us about your Interview procedure at Deloitte (Short listing procedure, GDs, Interviews).

Pallavi Jain Deloitte Internship Interview Business Technology Analyst Intern The selection process consisted of 3 rounds.

The first round was  an online adaptive test of 95 minutes which had 74  questions divided in three sections , Logical Reasoning,Quantitative  Ability and English. The test was quite easy which in turn made the  competition difficult.Around 150 students appeared for the test and 22    were shortlisted for the next round.

The second round was the Case Study Group Discussion and four groups  of 5-6 students were formed .There were two panels for the evaluation.  The first panel is present while you discuss the case with your team and  come up with solution. The second panel provide you with a full chart and  you have to summarize everything on the chart with your key points  highlighted and present the unanimous decision of the team. We were given a case study on an american organisation that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities to coordinate the response in case of a disaster and we were supposed to come up  with a risk proof predictive analytics model.

Tip: Be a team player, don’t counter your team members and come up with realistic and articulate points.

After this round 9 students were shortlisted for the Personal Interview. The interview is basically a walk through your resume. It will be scrutinized thoroughly. They might sound unimpressed but do not get flustered.(Do not fake your CV and maintain your composure)

Finally, I was shortlisted along with 4 other people and thus, ended the internship procedure for Deloitte.

What and how many internships and projects you did at college? How did you get them?

I have worked as a market research intern for a startup.I did two non-tech projects under professors from IIM Ahmedabad and XLRI Jamshedpur.I have been a part of Teen Pathar: a YouTube channel started by NSITians which has gained immense popularity lately.

What makes this company different from other firms.

Well for starters, its one of the Big Four firms. So it will be a good industry experience to intern at Deloitte.

What’s the role of academics in getting a good internship at NSIT?

Academics does play an important role. Try to get 75+, if not then don’t let it fall beyond 70. You will obviously get an edge over others if you have a decent percentage. Atleast for internships most of the companies have a strict above 70% and  no backlogs criteria. There are companies that actually shortlist candidates based on their perecntage.

How did you prepare for the internship season? What advice would you give to your juniors regarding the internship season?

To be honest, I didn’t prepare anything as such for the internship season. I just spent my vacations figuring out my interests.Being in COE, going for a non-tech profile was actually a difficult  choice . A lot of times I just kept dwindling between tech and non-tech.

If you are aiming for a non tech internship/job, practise aptitude questions and along with it keep building your CV , do internships, projects , whatever interests you & for tech people, geeksforgeeks is a must.

Would you like to give any general advice to your juniors?

Explore your interests in the first two years by being a part of  the societies that please you, work for fests , participate in competitions and follow your passion .Do not follow the rat race. Do not worry about getting an internship/ job from the very first day because you won’t get these fours years again . Enjoy your college life to the fullest.
