What all internships and projects you did while? How did you get them?

During my 3 years in college, I’ve done 3 internships, two of which were in technical domain in companies like Samsung Research Bangalore, Air India Delhi and one in non-technical field for a start-up named 4grams Technologies Pvt. Ltd. I got the Samsung Internship offer on campus while Air India and 4grams were off-campus internship offers (Applied via contacts).

Apart from this I‘ve done 2 research projects in College, one involving Cloud Computing while the other was based on Combinatorial Testing. In addition to these I‘ve won prizes in several National Level B-plan competitions as well as International level marketing competitions like Google Online Marketing Challenge. Such Extra-curricular activities do have a significant plus point for a post like that offered by Airtel.

What makes this company different from other firms?

Airtel is one of the few companies that visits the campus and recruits Undergraduates who will be working in parallel with MBA graduates. Thus the amount of exposure is very significant and will help in the overall growth of a person both personally and professionally.

Elaborate on the type of work in this kind of role?

The role I have been offered is Senior Executive- IT strategies, this will involve understanding the dynamics of the IT industry and therefore, plan cross functional stints, prepare business plans depending on the current economic conditions, geographies etc.

What all growth opportunities does this company provide? Are there any global exposures?

The profile offered is an Accelerated growth profile. Thus the growth opportunities are tremendous, and since we’ll be working in parallel to MBA graduates the exposure will be great. Also we’ll be working on projects not just centric to India but also effecting countries in other continents like Africa, therefore, sufficient global exposure is expected.

Would you like to give any general advice to your juniors?

A general Advise to all my fellow juniors is that do not blindly follow the herd and run after Money. Try to carve out your own path. Explore various domains in your first and second year, like Business Planning, Marketing, Finance, Coding etc. And once you’ve found your passion, follow that. Follow your passion, success and money will come automatically.
