Suyash Nigam, Intern, Air India shares his Interview Process in this brief interview
College: Delhi Technological University

Please tell us about your Interview procedure at Air India (Short listing procedure, GDs, Interviews, Questions).

Suyash Nigam Air India Careers Internship ReviewApproached The HR , had a prior contact. The Air India training facility is active throughout the year and offers various interns for electrical, electronic , mechanical and aerospace engineering.

What and how many internships and projects you did at college? How did you get them?

No prior internship , part of my college’s FSAE Hybrid student competition team. it’s a student engineering design competition organized by SAE , where you work on developing electrical motor -engine hybrid drivetrains to power a open-cockpit type F1 car

What makes this company different from other firms?

Overhaul facilities for commercial aircraft’s are a rarity , and one can observe the complete overhaul process for various aircraft systems and sub-systems .

How did you prepare for the placement season? What advice would you give to your juniors regarding the placement season?

Since i got this internship off campus I really hadn’t done any specific preparations for it but i will suggest all those who are looking out for off campus internships like these should apply as soon as these companies start recruiting interns because these companies usually have a cap on the number of intakes.

Elaborate on the type of work in this kind of role?

The mechanical facility is located attached to IGI Cargo Airport . The whole complex is divided into 2 major parts namely overhaul of hydraulics and sub components , Jet engine overhaul shops. In general overhaul shop various sub assemblies like engine Power transfer Unit , brakes , landing gears, air conditioning sub components are inspected , repaired and also simulated in a real World environment in a state of the art test rig facility.
In JEOC different engines compatible in Airbus 340 aircraft comes for inspection after threshold flying hours. Here, they are dissembled and its components are subjected to a robust non destructive testing apparatus. Minor repairs by chemical cleaning and plasma deposition are also performed.

Would you like to give any general advice to your juniors?

I will say try to explore as much as you can in the first two years and then once you have found your interest try to build upon in in the next two years, this even makes your resume diverse and more planned.

Rest I will say enjoy but don’t let the time to explore go in vain.
